Shells, shells, shells

I spent one family vacation a few years ago combing the beach with my cousins, collecting a hatfull of these tiny lake shells. And had nothing to do with them when I got home. After forgetting them in a box under my bed for about two years, I took a plain, ugly picture frame and turned it into something I wouldn't mind looking at... I have the chippy white paint thing goin on, so it's perfect. And it's a cool way to remember a fun trip :-)

Christmas Gifts

Newest Finds

I've tried finding unusual planters, but I couldn't resist this one. So cute! And only $1.50 :-) It's going to get a new home on my bookshelf.

And this lovely milk glass dish... I really don't know what it's original purpose is. A large candy dish? A small punch bowl? I had half a mind to plant some begonias in it, but haven't decided. It's doing a pretty nice job collecting my mail as is, so maybe later.

Notion Jar

I can't take credit for this one. Of all last year's birthday presents, my favorite was this jar of vintage sewing notions from my grandmother. (I've obviously raided some of its contents for recent projects.) I had seen something like this for sale at antique shops or flea markets, but had never really thought about using it in decorating. But how cute is that? Vintage buttons, clothes pins, embroidery thread, even a few thimbles there at the bottom. And don't you love the zinc lid?
